That’s not an exaggeration or overplayed statement, either. We’re all about finding our favorite sauces, favorite rubs, and favorite restaurants that serve it. Odds are you know someone who makes “the best” barbecue, but unless they have a restaurant, you won’t be able to eat it whenever you’d like. However, we’ve got great news. These restaurants in Kansas serve some of the best barbecue around, and we’d like to share them with you. Bring wet wipes!
Slippery Pigs is a new addition to my all-time favorites list, and I hope you like it as well. They're open from 11 a.m. to midnight from Monday to Saturday, and they serve up ribs to die for. Plus, what's cooler than a bar covered in pennies?

2. Iron Horse BBQ - 306 Commercial St., Atchison, KS
Iron Horse does barbecue justice in Atchison, serving up plenty of barbecue classics and more. They're closed on Mondays, but catch them for lunch or dinner any other time for a real treat.
You've heard how much I love Slap's before, so you already know they belong on this list as well. They open at 11 a.m. daily, but you might not catch them during their regular hours if all the meat is gone! It does sell out for a reason.
Buck's is an underrated restaurant that might not look special on the outside, but is bursting with flavor on the inside. Between baby back ribs and Memphis fries, I can't pick a favorite. They're open every day at 11 a.m. but close at different times through the week. Stop in early to get your favorite!

5. All Slabbed Up - 405 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, KS
All Slabbed Up is another great spot to grab some saucy meat, and maybe you'll feel like adding a dollar to the never-ending wall while you enjoy your meal. They're open from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily.
6. Guy & Mae's Tavern - 119 W William St., Williamsburg, KS
Guy & Mae's is another restaurant I love, and you'll find that their ribs are some of the most tender you've had. Make sure you bring cash for your meal, because this joint doesn't take cards. They're open from 11 a.m. until midnight on every day except for Sundays and Mondays.
7. Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que - 3002 W 47th Ave., Kansas City, KS
Joe's has a special place in my heart for their ribs and Z-man sandwich, but they've also gained national attention and have been labeled as the best place for barbecue in the U.S. by The New York Post. They're open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and they close at 10 on Fridays and Saturdays.
If you love great food from small towns, and some of these restaurants look a little overwhelming, try out this small town pub that serves some of the best food in the state.
