Not every restaurant is the same. Of course, Kansas has a plethora of cuisines to choose from, but where do you go when you want a little something extra with your dining experience? These amazing places are just some of the most fun restaurants you’ll find in our state.
1. Beautiful Day Cafe - 2516 E Central Ave., Wichita, Kansas
Beautiful Day cafe is exactly what it seems, a cafe that's perfect for when the weather's just right. They don't have much inside the restaurant beyond the usual, but outside, there's a garden! Not many restaurants have their own gardens, and I've never heard of it in Kansas until this amazing restaurant. Make sure to add it to your bucket list!
2. Kansas Belle Dinner Train - 1515 High St., Baldwin City, Kansas
This train also serves as a restaurant! If that weren't cool enough, they also have musical performances and murder mystery nights. Can this dinner get any cooler?
3. Fritz's Railroad Restaurant - 250 N 18th St., Kansas City, Kansas
This restaurant in Kansas City, Kansas is the perfect place to take any train lover. You order through a telephone, and then mini trains drive around on the ceiling to deliver your food! If that isn't a unique experience then I don't know what is.
4. Hays House - 112 W Main St., Council Grove, Kansas
Hays House is one of our oldest operating restaurants, but did you know they also feature live music on occasion? It really completes the experience when you can enjoy music like this during your meal.
5. Margarita's Cantina - 3109 E Douglas Ave., Wichita, Kansas
Margarita's in Wichita offers live music that rotates through many different genres. Of course the food is also spot-on and if you want, feel free to dance a little as well.
6. Prairie Rose Chuckwagon - 15231 SW Parallel St., Benton, Kansas
Prairie Rose Chuckwagon is a great place to enjoy the West right here in Kansas. You can watch the show as you're enjoying your meal, and it makes dinner much more special than just staring at the decor.
7. Stearman Field Bar & Grill - 14789 SW 30th St., Benton, Kansas
At this restaurant, you can watch planes land right outside your window. Of course, you'll have to time your dinner right, but there will always be days without planes. I guess that just means you'll have to come back!
8. Strawberry Hill Museum & Cultural Center - 720 N. 4th, Kansas City, Kansas
Strawberry Hill Museum doesn't so much as have a restaurant as it does a tea room, but the food served here is delightful. They're open for a few hours in the afternoons on weekends, but for a small bit of cash you can dine on homemade treats as well as fresh tea.
9. Trail Days Cafe & Museum - 803 W Main St., Council Grove, Kansas
This cafe serves different styles of meals from various cultures, such as American Indian, Old World, and Early American. You can adventure through history just by eating what's on your plate.
