2. Beethoven's #9 - 2 W Piankishaw St., Paola, Kansas
This wonderful German restaurant serves up homemade food like the Jagerschnitzel, their most popular dish. They offer 20 different sides, many of which pair perfectly with this pork meal. If you have any love of German food, here's one of the best places to find it.
Though this shop is firstly a bakery, it's also a Mennonite-inspired restaurant that hosts the best idea in the world: breakfast buffets. It's not fine dining by any means, but the food is always delicious, and that's what matters.
4. Carriage Crossing - 10002 S Yoder Rd., Yoder, Kansas
Not only do they have cinnamon rolls the size of your face, their pies are so good, you should probably order one before you even think about a meal. Their family style American traditional food is hearty and filling, but you're hard pressed to find a seat on a Saturday afternoon.

10. Renaissance Cafe - 210 N Center St., Assaria, Kansas
Assaria's Renaissance Cafe is a must-try if you've got the extra cash to save for a large meal that will remain in your memories for years. During the main part of the week, it's a small town restaurant serving great home cooked meals, but from Thursday to Saturday evenings, it becomes an Italian restaurant with great prices for the portions you receive.
This restaurant has been family owned since 1982, and makes all the main barbecue meats for dinners and by the pound. They're open 11am until 2pm, but they sell out pretty often, so be there early!
12. Sommerset Hall Cafe - 5701 SW Douglas Rd., Topeka, Kansas
Oh. My. Goodness. Sommerset Hall makes some of the best coconut creme pie and apple crumble I've had in my life, which is quite a few plates. Even if you don't like sweets, you should still give this small town style restaurant a try.
