There are plenty of towns in Kansas, from itsy bitsy ones to larger towns (that are cities to some) like Hays. Smaller towns have just as much to love about them, and we’re here to prove that. These choice towns are amazing in their own ways, and worth a day’s exploration this year. Let’s check them out!
1. Cottonwood Falls
This beautiful town is not only beautiful because of one of our most beautiful courthouses, but also because Chase State Fishing Lake is nearby and plenty of places to get antiques.
2. Norton
Norton is a beautiful town full of character, and with the addition of Prairie Dog State Park, you can't go wrong when it comes to beautiful scenery and friendly people.
3. Marysville
Marysville is equally historic and beautiful, with places like the pony express barn and the Blue River rail trail ready for you to explore.
4. Hiawatha
Hiawatha is a quiet reprieve for anyone who lives somewhere noisy, but between their local shops and the famous Davis memorial, you'll enjoy every moment here.
5. Sabetha
Sabetha is another small town near Hiawatha, where it's even quieter, and you can enjoy a nice day away from home. Eat at their local coffee shop and restaurants, and relax as you explore.
6. Wamego
Wamego is a unique town with a beautiful city park, and plenty of the Emerald City in the Oz Museum, Toto's Tacoz, and more.
7. Marion
Marion is a paradise for anyone who loves fishing, as far as I'm concerned. It's my favorite place to get catfish, and you can also spend time exploring the town and their historic courthouse.
8. Russell
Russell is one of the happiest towns I've ever visited, and there's so much to explore, not to mention people to meet. You'll want to come back again and again for their restaurants alone.
9. Strong City
Strong City is a great place to explore at your leisure, but you'll really enjoy the food at Ad Astra the most. Between the food and the people, you'll love everything they have to offer.
10. Perry
Perry has an amazing lake, restaurants like Aunt Netters that'll make you want to move into town, and some of the friendliest people around.
