Hello, Kansas nature lovers! There’s a lot we love about our beautiful state, but sometimes regular trails can be a bit rough to use. This Kansas river walk is something scenic and well-kept for hikes and casual strolls, no matter your experience level. A trail along the river, this spot is perfect for any day where the outdoors is somewhere you want to explore. Why not today?
Welcome to the Riverwalk Trail in Junction City. There's something beautiful about rivers that's more than just scenery. The sound, even the smell of fresh water running by all contribute to its beauty.
However, if you're not afraid of the brisk wind of winter, enjoy the trail anytime! You're more likely to have it all to yourself if the weather isn't sunny and warm. Plus, it's still absolutely stunning.
It's a well-maintained pathway, made of different materials as you go along. It's also mostly in shade, so you get plenty of time in and out of the sun if it's shining.
You're also able to bike or take your leashed dog on this trail, and it also links up with the horse trails at Milford Lake, if you've ever been there.
It's a pretty straightforward loop, with not a lot of places to get lost. That's great if you're like me because I've got no lead in my nose. It's very well kept, but keep your eyes peeled for amazing animals like bald eagles that might be hiding up in the trees or flying by.
Here’s a map for you to see a basic outline of the trail for yourself. If you want a more in-depth trail, check out this link from AllTrails.
There’s something beautiful about this trail, but it’s also pretty easy for beginners if you haven’t been hiking for a while yet. For more easy trails, why not check out this list that’s perfect for beginning 2019 with?
