Welcome to Scott City, Kansas, where you have all sorts of incredible nature at your fingertips.
With a population of about 4,000, this amazing town has a lot to offer without ever feeling empty. It's got amazing people, but the nature surrounding it is absolutely stunning.
About 30 minutes away is the amazing Monument Rocks formation that's a must-see for any Kansas nature lover.
These amazing formations are made of Niobrara Chalk, and have been here for longer than we have. There's so many little fossils to see here, and it's absolutely stunning any time of day. The open skies frame this formation perfectly.

Even if you've seen Monument Rocks before, it only gets better. Lake Scott State Park is another local nature area that's full of places to explore.
While you're here at the park, you should also stop by El Quartelejo's pueblo ruins and see just how much history this place holds.
Spend every day exploring the great outdoors while you're in Scott City, or spend a day exploring the town instead. It's just so refreshing having all these options for nature nearby.
In town, a couple great restaurants to try in between adventures are Tate's and Grill House. It just wouldn't be a trip to Scott City without them. There's never a boring day here, when you can just head over to Lake Scott State Park or another local natural attraction to make your day amazing.
Scott City is in western Kansas, straight north of Garden City. Feel free to come through on your next road trip!
