Believe it or not, Halloween is upon us (just check out your local store) and frights galore are right around the corner. However, if you can’t wait a few months to have your pants scared off at a Haunted House, don’t fret; just visit one of these 11 places in Kansas where you may spot a true to life (err, death?) ghost:
I always knew there was something weird about K-State (says the KU fan) and I guess I was right. Reports of a deceased football player, disgruntled Pi Kappa Phi pledge and the last patient to die at the former K-State hospital are thought to haunt the campus.
Located at the junctions of Highways 156 and 283, the Jetmore Curve is a sharp gravel turn that is alleged to have killed a group of high school students who cruised the road late one Halloween night. To this day, locals and visitors alike tell the same story: If you visit the curve on Halloween, you will hear the unexplained sounds of screaming, groaning, and of cars crashing. (Please note: I couldn't find a picture of the curve, so please use your imagination and pretend this is it!)

Surprise, surprise; there is a cemetery on a list of haunted places in Kansas! However, this isn't just any cemetery. While most spirits leave their bodies after death, those at Alma tend to stick around, including that of the farmer who owned the land that houses the cemetery who was pushed into a well and killed by an unknown person.

Since we're talking about cemeteries, let's head over to Schroyer, which is famous for demonic voices, orbs and sightings of a young boy covered in hair.
Last cemetery, I promise! Fort Leavenworth is known as the "most haunted army base in the United States" and is occupied by the ghosts of diseased victims, sufferers of Indian attacks, lost travelers, slain soldiers and other forgotten souls.

One of the most infamous murder cases in Kansas history is that of Sandra Bird, who was drugged, placed in her car, and then pushed over the side of Rocky Ford (Bird) Bridge by her reverend husband and his mistress. When you visit the bridge today, it is said that you can still hear Mrs. Bird's screams coming from the water below.
