When we were kids, fair rides like carousels were just more common. Riding colorful horses and other animals around and around was something most of us probably have memories of. This northeast Kansas carousel museum is truly one we should all visit.
Welcome to an amazing museum that you'll never forget, the C. W. Parker Carousel Museum.
This beautiful museum that opened in 2005 hasn't been here for too long, but what lies inside is a plethora of horses and other animals from over the years. Mr. Parker sure made a lot of carousels!
While you're, here, you can ride one of their fully restored carousels like the 1913 carry-us-all that moves faster than today's carousels. I hope you're ready for a fun ride!
Since many of the pieces here have already reached 100 years or are going to be soon, they need repairs. Sometimes you'll see horses being sanded, repaired, or painted as you tour the museum.
Another amazing feature here is this primitive carousel, which is dated to around 1850/60 and may be the oldest still-moving carousels in the country. You can ask to see it move, but instead of a motor it uses the power of two men to turn it around and around.
You’ll find the C.W. Parker Carousel Museum at 320 S Esplanade St, Leavenworth, Kansas.
After you fall in love with this cool Kansas museum, maybe you’d like to take a museum road trip! There’s a whole trail for you to follow, if you’ve been itching for adventure.
