Welcome to the Eldridge Hotel. This hotel has been an important piece of Lawrence history since its very beginning.
Unfortunately, after only one year, the hotel was attacked and burned to the ground. Colonel Shalor Eldridge rebuilt the hotel with an extra floor. Eldridge said that each time the hotel was destroyed, he would repair the damage and build an additional floor onto the hotel.

The violence continued and in 1863, the hotel was destroyed once again. However, just as he promised, Eldridge went to work rebuilding the hotel and adding another floor.
The hotel flourished for many decades until the 1920s. At this time, many hotels were going out of business, including the Eldridge Hotel. Fortunately, in 2005, the Eldridge Hotel was restored to its original charm and re-opened its doors. The photo above shows The Eldridge Hotel in 1929.
