Fort Scott National Historic Site is one of our most-visited historic sites in Kansas. It’s an incredibly popular destination for locals and out-of-towners, and a great place to learn about the rich history of the Sunflower State. It’s open to visitors nearly every day of the year and always ranks high on lists of “must-visit places in Kansas,” especially for those interested in learning more about the Bleeding Kansas and Civil War periods. While the park is open year-round, it’s worth noting that the hours of operation do vary with the seasons, and as of November 1, 2023, the Fort Scott National Historic Site will be switching to winter hours.
