One spot that is undoubtedly among the state’s most unique attractions is the World’s Largest Ball of Twine. You’ll find this behemoth in the little city of Cawker City in Mitchell County. The town is immensely proud of its ball of twine, and it’s so popular that it even has its own annual celebration. Let’s take a peek at this uniquely Kansan spot:

Each year, the community hosts a Twine-a-thon in August, where members of the public are invited to come wrap more twine along the ball.
The ball got its start in 1953, when a single farmer began work on it. Within just a few years, it weighed more than 5,000 pounds!
