Lisa loves animals and has dogs, rats, cats, guinea pigs, and snakes. She is passionate about animal rescue and live music - traveling across the country to see a favorite band is a pretty regular occurrence! Being out hiking in the woods enjoying the scenery with her beloved dogs is another favorite hobby, and also checking out the Pokemon Go scene in whatever city she happens to be in at any given time (coffee and dog leash in hand). It isn’t hard to please a book lover. Take a bibliophile to just about anywhere that’s filled with books and you’ll have a happy camper. We’ve got some great locations for book lovers in Kansas, with plenty of stellar libraries and bookstores all over the state. One of the best bookstores in Kansas is The Dusty Bookshelf. This magical shop feels like a bit of a step back in time before the internet and e-readers took over everything. There are two locations in the Sunflower State, with one in Manhattan and one in Lawrence. Both are packed from wall to wall with books of all kinds. You could easily spend all day in here browsing through all the treasures.
Whether you're in Manhattan or Lawrence, you'll find that The Dusty Bookshelf is a sprawling bookshop filled with an unfathomable number of volumes.
One of the best things about The Dusty Bookshelf is that it's a place that encourages loitering. There are plenty of nooks and chairs spread all over the shop that are just begging for you to curl up with a good book and relax.
Pictured is Dinah-Mite, who lives at the Lawrence store and can typically be found curled up in a chair.
Independent bookstores are going the way of the dodo bird, and book lovers know there's not much that's better than enjoying an afternoon in a locally-run bookshop.
