Everyone loves to try a new restaurant and we here at Only in Kansas love to share the best places with you, our awesome readers! While today’s restaurant may take a bit of a drive, it is well worth it as it is home to not only a fabulous menu, but a touch of secludedness that we all crave:
Named for the Kansas state motto (which is Latin for "To the stars through difficulties"), Ad Astra is a small town diner with a fun and industrial ambiance, globally-inspired entrees, and an extensive menu that you won't find anywhere else in the state.
While the Flint Hills town of Strong City may seem small (with a population of less than 500), is is anything but with its big-hearted community, rich history, and overall memorable experience at the popular Ad Astra Food and Drink .
Originally opened and established in 2012, Ad Astra quickly gained a large following not only in the community, but from out of town as well. After temporarily closing in the fall of 2015 (due to a lack of help), the restaurant fortunately reopened and still serves the same fresh and creative menu despite the new ownership.
Whether you're in the mood for a tall and frothy brew...
Psst... Ad Astra serves beer from both the Freestate and Boulevard Brewing Companies!
...something meatless...
Vegetarian chili and cornbread, anyone?
...something extra meaty...
...or even coffee and a made-from-scratch dessert, you are sure to find something to love at Ad Astra!
Did we mention they serve air-roasted coffee from The Roasterie?
As you may have already guessed, Ad Astra is usually pretty busy, so be sure to call in advance to make your reservation at this memorable (and remote) establishment.
