9 Creepy Kansas Locations, Lore, And Legends To Keep You Entertained And Completely Spooked

In Le Roy, Lorenz Schlichter Memorial Cemetery is supposedly home to paranormal activity. Wash and dry your car before visiting at night, where you drive into the cemetery and wait for the sound of a smack on your vehicle. After the thud, drive home where it's safe and you are supposed to see dusty hand prints on your windows and around the bottom of your vehicle. I don't think I'll be doing this one!

Medicine Lodge is home to a hill called Flowerpot Mountain by settlers, and the legend dates back to the days when Native Americans warred with settlers for their land. One night, a camp stayed on the top of the hill, with a woman leaving her diary hidden, containing details of hostile natives and the rest was blank. Since then, a gnarled tree has stood at the top, marking the spot where her diary lay and where the camp was slain. To top it all off, it's also rumored that cults who killed cows were active here in the 80s and 90s. How creepy!

The oldest tale of this bridge starts in the 19th century, when settlers were making their way across the creek in this area. Native Americans attacked, and a baby named Theorosa was stolen, never to be seen again. Her mother's spirit allegedly wanders the banks, calling out for her lost child.

In Topeka, a popular ghost story involves an albino woman who used to glare at children boarding school buses or be rude in general. After her death in 1963, the pale figure of her ghost was spotted wandering the Rochester Cemetery and looking into people's windows. How creepy!

Atchison's very own Jackson Park has two haunted locations said to be inhabited by the spirit of one wronged girl. Older stories told of a slave who had relations with her master, but recently the story has been told of a prom date who was ditched here by a cruel date and took her own life in this tree here. She also haunts one of the concrete buildings here, according to local legend.

The legend of The Happy Seven revolves around nearby teenagers who were out joyriding on Donmeyer Road. Little did they know they would hit a bump on those washboard hills and wreck, ending their lives. Some say they still haunt this area, pushing around cars that dare to speed on these roads.

Le Hunt is a Kansas ghost town that doesn't have much, but it does have an abandoned cement factory. It's said to be haunted by the ghost of a factory worker named Bohr who fell into a vat and died. They put his tools in the wall as a memorial, but he still lingers.

A legend from Inman Lake area in Mcpherson, this serpent is allegedly as wide as a car tire and about 15 feet long. It was witnessed swimming in the largest of a few 'sinkholes' as two men fished in what was left of the drained lake. Yikes! Apparently, some speculated the creature to actually be a "Foopengerkle", some species thought to be extinct and one that I certainly have never heard of before. Have you?
