Where can you find wildflowers in Kansas?
As you might imagine in The Sunflower State, we have some pretty amazing places to not only see sunflowers in Kansas but gorgeous wildflowers of all varieties. Here are a few of our favorite places to find wildflowers in Kansas that we think you'll love too.
Akin Prairie, Lawrence, KS: Join the Kansas Land Trust on an interpretive wildflower hike to admire and learn all about the wildflowers, prairie grasses, and wildlife in the beautiful Akin Prairie. Even if you can't make the guided nature hike in early June, the Akin Prairie is a fantastic place to explore on your own throughout the spring, summer, and fall when many different varieties of wildflowers are in bloom.
The Flower Farm, Gardner, KS: We love a good nature walk with a bounty of wild flora and fauna all around, but sometimes you actually want to take some flowers home. One of our favorite places to bring home flowers in Kansas is The Flower Farm. This family-owned farm has been bringing the beauty of flowers into homes since 1971. They have everything from flowering plants to wildflowers, and even fruit trees, which have a glorious bloom in the spring.
Horsethief Canyon Trail, Marquette, KS: In the beautiful Kanopolis State Park you'll find plenty of great hiking trails. One of our favorites is the Horsethief Canyon Trail. What is so special about this trail? The Smoky Hills region of Kansas is a wonderful blend of red rocky cliffs, canyons, caves, and lush green grasslands filled with wildflowers overlooking the Kanopolis Reservoir. The Horsethief Canyon Trail is about 2.1 miles long and will take you to see all of those aforementioned natural features.
