8 Beautiful Kansas Locations You Probably Didn't Know Existed

There’s something incredible about how beautiful Kansas is. No matter where you go and what you see, there’s always beauty to be shared there. Every bit an piece of Kansas has almost been explored, but we find more to love every year. However, these specific areas of Kansas aren’t as well-known as others, and we’d like to share them with you. They’re simply stunning, and a great part of our amazing state.

If you've never been to this state park, don't expect your average experience here. It's absolutely breathtaking to see the grasses flow over the hills, and to smell clean air as you visit every patch of wildflowers. There's also a fair amount of space to enjoy horseback riding, if you have the horse for it.

Elk Falls is both a town and a waterfall, which you'll find by going over an iron bridge and listening closely. After a good rain, the water rushes by quickly, but it's always gorgeous no matter the speed.

Cheyenne Bottoms is a wetlands area of Kansas, with about 41,000 acres of space that it covers. It's absolutely full of wildlife of every kind, especially millions of shorebirds that migrate through the year. Everywhere you look, there's a new color and shape of bird.

This cathedral might not be a nature location, but its beauty should be shared with everyone. Firstly, it's absolutely massive. The Basilica of St. Fidelis (the name of this church) is a stunning example of Kansas architecture. Though it's technically not a cathedral, it was named Cathedral of the Plains after a visit in 1912 by a man named William Jennings Bryan. Since then, it's been a stunning example of beauty in our state.

This beautiful area of preserve is full of adventure, which you can explore to your hearts content at your own pace. A cool place to stop is Jacob's Well, which is equal parts an oasis in the plains and a mystery. It's the subject of a couple legends, with some claiming it was once bottomless, and is now haunted. However, we'll let you do the deciding on that legend.

Cross Timbers is a gorgeous state park that I feel doesn't get enough love. Being surrounded by tall trees and a beautiful waterside view is all you'll need.

This amazing park hidden in Wichita is the perfect place to explore nature, especially if you don't get to very often. There's a tunnel of trees hidden in the park, so don't be afraid to explore and find your own magical secrets.

Clinton Lake is not only a lake, but a beautiful mirror for colors at sunset. Every sunset here seems to be beyond magical, and the water interrupted by dead trees and bird nests only makes the view more interesting.
