Kansas has quite a few diners, small town eateries, and everything in between. However, it’s always nice to treat yourself to something that feels a little more special. We don’t think that every fancy-pants restaurant is about your literal pants, either. I mean, this is Kansas! Sometimes all they need to be fancy is the chef, the presentation of food and the price for the freshest ingredients available every day. Here’s a few fancy-pants Kansas restaurants that vary in attire from nice jeans to dressed for date night.
1. Pig & Finch Gastropub - Leawood
Pig & Finch is an odd name for a restaurant, but an upscale pub with a seasonal patio is the perfect place for a name like this. Fancy eating doesn't always mean you have to go without craft beer, and this is one gastropub where you get the best of both worlds.
2. Silo Modern Farmhouse - Lenexa
Sitting on a golf course, you can enjoy fine dining with beautiful scenery. Their food is absolutely beautiful to match, which makes eating here at Silo Modern Farmhouse feel just as special as it looks. They're bringing farm to table food to the fancy side of things, and their tall-as-a-tower cake is an item you'll want to remember to order during your visit.
3. Larkspur | Bistro & Bar - Wichita
Larkspur is a very open-air establishment, even when you dine indoors. As far as fancy-pants Kansas restaurants go, we love this one the best. It's somewhere where you'd feel right at home in any version of your Sunday best, alongside your favorite lunch or dinner meal. Think fancy in terms of how you feel, and not how you look. The amazing food is almost a bonus to dining here, after sitting around this scenery!
4. The Elephant Bistro & Bar - Hoxie
The Elephant is another non-formal restaurant that serves fancy flavors without caring how you're dressed. It's in a beautiful historic building with a menu equally amazing in taste, and there's no pressure to get a stain on your nicest shirt. It's the best of both worlds, for Kansans who love fancy food without the stuffy air.
5. Bourbon & Baker - Manhattan
As both a restaurant and bakery, Bourbon & Baker is a little less posh and a little more about the taste. The food is presented like it's a fancy-pants restaurant, but you probably won't see many wearing clothes to match. They serve fancy flavors for all types of Kansans, and we think pub style eats never looked so good.
6. Scotch & Sirloin - Wichita
Wichita is our largest city, and with that, it's no wonder we have a few upscale dining options available. Scotch and Sirloin is of course fantastic at steaks and their large selection of scotch, which pair nicely to each menu item. They've been around since 1969, and serving amazing eats that long means that it's worth the extra price as well as the dress.
7. Harry's - Manhattan
Harry's is permanently closed.
Harry's sits in a historic building that was once a hotel, but is now a premier dining establishment. They're known for amazing steaks and even better service, which we think matches well with what they're all about. They've been winning awards since 1996, so we're not surprised.
If you have somewhere special that you take your friends or family to treat yourselves, tell us about it here! We love seeing new places.
