Summertime is when the entire state of Iowa goes festival-crazy! From enormous music festivals to small town fairs, nearly every weekend is packed with a gathering in one of our communities. One of the longest standing festivals in the state is hosted by the tiny town of Montrose. Their August festival has always been the best watermelon festival in Iowa! For 74 years, the community of Montrose, Iowa has gathered in August to celebrate the summer harvest with all things Watermelon!
The Watermelon Parade celebrates life in rural Iowa with floats created by local groups to honor veterans, celebrate heritage, and show off our town's most adorable kids.
The Montrose Watermelon Festival will be held August 16 – August 18, 2018. On Thursday and Friday, the festival opens at 5 p.m., and on Saturday morning, a parade kicks off the festivities! Head down to S 1st St., Montrose, IA52639 to join in on the fun.
