One of Iowa’s oldest businesses is home to a sweet treat that has been part of the Hawkeye State’s culinary culture for generations. That’s right – we’re talking about Twin Bings and the Palmer Candy Company!
Palmer Candy Company is one of the oldest candy shops in the country! The Palmer story begins in 1878 and carries through five generations, leading up to today.
Over 140 years later, Palmer Candy Co. is actually the oldest company of its size to be under continuous family ownership in the United States. This slice of sweet history is right here in Sioux City, Iowa!
The most famous candy made by Palmer's is their Twin Bing. It was first produced in 1925, and originally was offered in four flavors: maple, vanilla, pineapple, and cherry.
These sweet and unique candy bars consist of a cherry flavored center surrounded by chopped peanuts and homemade chocolate. They're just as delicious now as they were a century ago!
When you visit Palmer's Old Tyme Candy Shoppe, be sure to spend time learning about the company's history and their candy making process. You'll feel connected to your candy in a way you never dreamt was possible!
Enjoy yourself at the Palmer Old Tyme Candy Shoppe and you never know what you’ll come home with! Sweets, candy, chocolates, and of course some twin bings. Your inner child will be jumping for joy.
