Here’s one tiny little town you should put on your bucket list this year. With a state park, a waterfront view and a quaint cityscape, this town is surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Here’s more:
The tiny town of McGregor is nestled along the mighty Mississippi.
Since it was first settled in 1847 it's been a picturesque community surrounded by beautiful natural surroundings.
McGregor references are usually combined with another small-town neighbor to the north, Marquette.
But even without all the amazing eye candy Marquette adds to the mix, McGregor offers up incredible outdoor experiences of its own.
To start with, a little more about this town: McGregor has a meager 850 residents.
But they get a lot more visitors than that. They come for the charming downtown and the eateries.
Cafe McGregor is always a good bet when you're visiting this tiny Iowa town.
Coffee and lunch with outstanding soup and sandwiches? You bet.
McGregor has plenty to see and do if you're an outdoor enthusiast.
Spook Cave is a campground that's open to the public and offers guided tours for a small fee.
Just down the road, you'll find Pikes Peak State Park.
The views from up top are magnificent. In some seasons, you can even see downtown McGregor from parts of the park.
While you're there, you'll want to be sure to take the short Bridal Veil Trail.
The walkway is pretty steep but it has stairs.
The payoff at the end of this short hike is amazing!
