If you’re looking for a kid-friendly hike that showcases one of Iowa’s natural wonders, head to the Upper Iowa River just outside of Decorah and take a two mile hike out and back to Malanaphy Springs. Bring a bathing suit and towel, because you’ll want to enjoy this Iowa swimming hole when you find it.

The parking lot at the trailhead is small, so get there early to get a spot. The trail itself only takes about an hour round-trip, and is fairly easy.
