With more than 70 state parks and recreation areas in Iowa, it’s not hard to find a quiet, beautiful place to enjoy the solitude of nature. Stone State Park is one such place, and once you see it, you’ll want to visit over and over again.
Stone State Park is located in Sioux City, right on the banks of the Big Sioux River. The 1,089-acre state park is a quiet little oasis right near the city.
Stone State Park is the perfect place for some solitude and quiet reflection. There are plenty of spots for a picnic, and lots of areas where you can simply relax and unwind.
The Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center is a must-visit while you're here. The address of the center is 4500 Sioux River Rd., Sioux City, IA 51109, and it's open six days a week. Visit Tuesday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Sunday 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.; closed Monday.
Not ready to go home yet? Stay overnight in one of three cozy cabins. Each one is equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, including heating and A/C, dining table and chairs, a small refrigerator, and microwave.
