Did you know that Iowa wines are some of the tastiest in the country? Not only will you find fantastic sweet wines here, but many vineyards are working on crafting hearty dry wines, as well. One of the pioneers of Iowa winemaking is located way up in Fort Dodge. Soldier Creek Winery is worth a visit if you love the idea of hanging out at a vineyard.
The beautiful, remote Soldier Creek Winery is home to some of the best Iowa wines around.
The French-American hybrid grapes include five reds: Frontenac, St. Croix, Geneva Red, Maréchal Foch, Marquette; and five whites: Frontenac Gris, Frontenac Blanc, La Crescent, St. Pepin, and Brianna.
The varieties and vintages produced on site at Soldier Creek are some of the highest regarded Iowa wines, with dozens of awards, medals, and accolades to brag about.
Soldier Creek Wines are available in dozens of small town Iowa wine shops, but nothing is better than visiting the winery and tasting them for yourself.
The tasting room is open Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visit the Soldier Creek website for information on special events throughout the year.
