Did you know that you can go river tubing in Iowa without leaving the Des Moines metro area? While most Iowans head way out to the country to find a place to drop in, Raccoon River Excursions has created the best quick day trip float near our largest city.
For more than a decade, Raccoon River Excursions has been leading groups to one of the most popular places to go river tubing in Iowa.
So many river trips are located in the Driftless area, but thanks to Raccoon River Excursions, a day trip from the Des Moines metro area is easy to arrange.
Floats typically last 4-5 hours, but can go quicker or slower depending on river conditions. You'll start your journey between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., depending on when you arrive.
These river trips sell out quickly, so book your adventure in advance. Raccoon River Excursions runs trips from May through September (weather permitting) on weekends only.
River tubing in Iowa is an affordable way to have some fun! You'll pay $25 per person and that includes a cooler tube, twine, life jacket, a trash bucket, and a shuttle to the drop-in site and back to your car.
You don't have to bring much to have a great day on the water. Raccoon River Excursions recommends water shoes, sunscreen, cheap sunglasses and a cooler for drinks and snacks to enjoy.
