For decades, the rail ruled the landscape of Iowa, with important train depots being built in nearly every town. As technology improved and air travel became more popular, train depots began to shut down as rail companies merged and shifted. One historic depot in Grinnell has been reopened as the coolest railroad restaurant in Iowa.
This former Rock Island Railroad Station has been fully converted into one of Grinnell's best restaurants.
While it's very cool to eat in a historic dining room, the experience is only worth it if the food is amazing - and luckily, the Peppertree is up to the challenge!
You’ll find The Peppertree at Depot Crossing at 1014 3rd Ave, Grinnell, IA 50112. They’re open Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., as well as on Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and closed on Sundays.
