Pikes Peak in MacGregor, IA is in Clayton County. The park is named after Zebulon Pike - an explorer and general. Interestingly enough, the famous Pikes Peak in Colorado is named after the same man.
There are setups for both tent and RV campers within the Pikes Peak campground. However, we recommend you make reservations during the season (March 1 - November 30), before heading out on your outdoor adventure.

Upgrades were recently made throughout the park. This includes new showers, toilets, campfire pits, picnic tables, a dumping station, and more. Of course, there's also plenty of shade to help you stay cool.

Unlike other Iowa State Park campgrounds, you'll find 63 ancient burial mounds in the park. This includes the famous Bear Mound which was built sometime between 800-1200 AD by the American Indians of the Woodland Culture.
Bridal Veil Falls is a beautiful cascade that's one of the most photographed sites in all of Iowa, and it's easy to hike out to see it.

The trail to the falls is just a half-mile wooden boardwalk with some steps. You'll get up close to one of Iowa's most iconic sites. It'll also be easy to understand why this is a popular attraction in Pikes Peak Mcgregor, IA.
There are several trails, as well as nearby parking areas, that allow you to experience the stunning views of the Mississippi River. You can look straight across the river into Wisconsin. Therefore, we suggest bringing a pair of binoculars too!
