You've probably seen some colorful canoes on the water around Iowa, and if you're from the central Iowa area, there's a good chance they come from one place.

CanoeSport Outfitters, based in Indianola, has quickly gained a reputation as one of the state's best water recreation companies.

But they're far from just a store - they also give lessons on how to explore the waters, and hold special events on nearby Lake Ahquabi.

And several times a summer, they hold the legendary Full Moon Float - the only moonlight float trip in Iowa.

They usually hold it on three nights each summer, and in 2022 the last sailing of the summer is on Thursday, August 11th at 7:45 PM. Make sure to check back as they announce their future plans each summer!

Over the two-hour expedition, a group of amateur and experienced boaters will take their canoes and kayaks out on the lake as the sun goes down.

It's a uniquely peaceful experience that includes a tour along the shoreline, watching the moon rise, and some interesting tidbits about the month's moon.
