When you’re craving a tasty meal with homemade fixings in Iowa, you won’t have to look far to find it. We have tons of great restaurants serving up food prepared from scratch all over the state. Here’s a restaurant that’s located right in the middle of an Iowa farm, and it’s worth the journey.
The Machine Shed Restaurant got its start back in 1978, with its Davenport location. Dedicated to the hard work of the American farmer, this little gem soon expanded, with six restaurants in Iowa and surrounding states. Pictured is the Urbandale location.
You'll find the Urbandale restaurant at 11151 Hickman Rd., Urbandale, IA 50322.
This restaurant may be located right off the Interstate, but it's situated on a few acres of pretty pasture with a pond, and it's adjacent to The Living History Farms.
There's no better way to start your day than with a hearty breakfast here. In fact, the Travel Channel has proclaimed this the Best Breakfast in America! Enjoy thick-sliced ham, hash browns, eggs, pancakes, sweet rolls, and more.
When lunchtime rolls around, you'll want to head to this place for a delicious salad, bowl of soup, or sandwich. The pork tenderloin sandwich is the most popular lunch item, and you'll see why when it arrives at your table.
There's nothing to make your evening better than a plate piled high with comfort food, and that's what The Machine Shed does best. Enjoy tasty entrees like traditional pot roast, roasted stuffed Iowa pork chop, plowman's meatloaf, and more.
