In the East Village of Des Moines, there is a restaurant that makes magic, using flour, eggs, and little water. Lucca is an Italian Cafe that will transport you into the Old World with perfect pasta that’s made fresh daily. The restaurant serves a wonderful lunch and an exquisite prix fixe dinner that will make any evening memorable. An amazing atmosphere and excellent service completes the experience. Read on to see why Lucca’s pasta is the best you’ll taste in Iowa.
Lucca is located in a century-old building that was completely renovated by the owner. The kitchen is located in the middle of the space so you can see the magic happen!
The restaurant's prix fixe menu changes weekly, but it always features four courses. It starts with a light option - a soup or salad. The second course features favorites as gnocchi, risotto, and pasta, including pasta bolognese. The gnocchi is incredible, dressed with butter, sage, and a bit of parmesan cheese.
But things are just getting started with this incredible meal. The next course includes various takes on salmon, pork, chicken, and steak. The scallops truly are a work of art!
Lucca's cocktails are as great as the food, too, and the restaurant also has an impressive wine selection, including boutique style wines from all over the world. Lucca serves some red and white wines by the glass, as well as a large selection by the bottle.
The restaurant takes reservations for dinner and also takes to-go orders. Looking for more great Italian food in Iowa? Check out this delicious spot in Knoxville.
