There are quite a few places to get great taco pizza in Iowa if you’re addicted to the salty, greasy, crunchy Mexico-meets-Italy treat. But did you know this strange fusion dish didn’t have its origin in any foreign country – but right here in the Hawkeye State? The midwestern chain Happy Joe’s, known for its pizza, ice cream, and fun environment, claims to have invented the dish in the 1970s. Today, you can get it at any of their locations, but the Ottumwa location is one of the best for that classic Happy Joe’s atmosphere.
