As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
Planning an Iowa vacation means you’re setting yourself up for a great trip in the Hawkeye State, but sometimes we get so used to our typical vacation spots that we want to mix it up! One great hidden gem is the Homestead Hotel in the Amana Colonies! This historic building has had many lives — it was built in 1862 as a hotel, it burned down in a fire in 1890, was rebuilt and continued to host travelers until it became Bill Zuber’s Dugout Restaurant in 1949. in 2004, the Homestead Hotel returned to its roots and was remodeled and opened as Zuber’s Homestead Hotel, a place where any Iowan would be proud to stay.
