5. The Small Town In Iowa You've Never Heard Of But Will Fall In Love With
Eldora is an Iowan town that fewer than 3,000 people call home. Many of the buildings there, including the amazing courthouse, are on the National Historic Register. There's a gorgeous state park on the edge of town, and the rich history of this place will make you glad you took the time to visit.
6. Butch's River Rock Cafe is located about 10 minutes southwest of Mt. Pleasant. You'll make your way on a remote road from the main highway to get there. Locals know it's worth the trip.
7. El Supper Burrito is a great little Mexican restaurant that not many people outside of its Cedar Rapids neighborhood know about. When you are in the area, be sure to stop by.
8. Seeing the incredible Crystal Lake Cave 5 miles south of Dubuque doesn't require any hiking.
9. Locals know the approximate location of buried treasure. Local legend says Red Brussels' money is undiscovered.
He lived in a log cabin on one of Trumbull Lake's small islands. Unfortunately for him, a group of townspeople tracked their stolen horses back to his home and took care of the problem by hanging him nearby. Brussels' hid his stolen money well and very little was uncovered at the time. Many Iowans still believe he carefully hid his cash and valuables in the area around his home.
