Iowa has no shortage of haunted places, from abandoned asylums to historic houses to old jails. But one of the creepiest haunted spots in our state has to be Chuck and Edna’s Maid-Rite in Cascade, Iowa. Not only have they witnessed supernatural activity themselves, they’ve caught it on film!
Chuck and Edna’s Maid-Rite restaurant in Cascade is a friendly, small town restaurant serving delicious Maid-Rite sandwiches and ice cream to the local community. However, it’s also known for being haunted.
Employees have been reporting strange phenomena at the Maid-Rite ever since it opened.
The restaurant was built on an empty lot, although past businesses that have stood on that spot have included and ambulance lot and a funeral home.
A series of strange events took place in the establishment that were caught on security cameras.
The first incident involved an inexplicable shadow by the dishwashing station.
The shadow was dark and appeared to take the shape of a human figure, which didn’t seem possible considering the abundant overhead lighting in that area of the restaurant. Some said it could be a bug on the lens, but the shadow looks pretty big to be a bug.
In another chilling occurrence, a stack of Styrofoam cups slid off a shelf on their own, hitting a worker on the head.
The strange phenomena shook the owners so much, they decided to call in a team of ghost hunters to investigate. While the findings of their report aren’t available, the video still remains.
