I love a night out at the movies, but there’s a reason that box office receipts have been flagging except when a Barbenheimer-type event comes along. Going to the movies can be expensive, especially when you add in concessions, and many of the big chains don’t deliver the service that makes the movies feel like magic. That’s what a new theater in Iowa is looking to change. The Last Picture House, which just opened in December 2023, is a new Davenport boutique movie theater that is trying to bring back the classic feel we all love to the movie theater. With a mix of current and classic films, a unique atmosphere, special events and screenings, and even a laid-back lounge for drinks and snacking before the movie begins, The Last Picture House is looking to change the way we go to the movies for the better.
