Iowa is full of beautiful overlooks, from Pikes Peak State Park to the gorgeous Loess Hills. One of the best places to take in breathtaking views is in Dubuque, along the Great River Road. Eagle Point Park has earned a reputation as one of the best urban parks in the entire Midwest – read below to see why.
Eagle Point Park is one of Iowa's most spectacular parks, thanks to 164 acres of forest, parkland, rock formation and stunning bluffs along the Mississippi River.
If anyone ever tries to tell you that Iowa is just flat farmland, show them a side of the state they've never imagined by taking them to this beautiful park with breathtaking overlooks.
On a clear day, you can see for miles up and down the mighty Mississippi River. Lock and Dam #11 is a great place to spot Bald Eagles in the wintertime when they fish along the river.
It's common to see old fashioned Riverboats, too! Watching the floating traffic will show you just how important this mighty river is to our state's commerce and transportation.
Eagle Point Park is located at 2601 Shiras Ave., Dubuque, IA 52001. Picnic pavilions, playgrounds, and walking trails are spread over nearly 200 acres of beautiful park land, so you’ll have plenty to keep you entertained all day long. The views here are truly worth the journey on their own.
