Midwest Industries founder Byron Godbersen started building his own castle in Ida Grove, Iowa in the 1970s, he likely had no idea just how far he would go to transform the town. If you’re looking for a unique day trip for yourself, friends, or family, plan a drive to see the castles of Ida Grove.
Though this quirky Iowa town is only home to about 2,000 people, every year thousands more visit to see the castles of Ida Grove.
The first castle in town was Godbersen's own estate, Lake LaJune. H also included a man-made lake and a replica of the HMS Bounty in his first inspiring property project.
