Looking for a fun way to get outside this fall while satisfying a sweet tooth or two? Central Iowa has several fun campground trick-or-treat options. One is held at Ledges State Park just south of Boone, Iowa; another is held at Little Wall Lake Park Campground just south of Jewell, Iowa. The Ledges trick-or-treat is a bit more casual while the goings on at Little Wall Lake take shape as something of a fall festival. 

For example, the Little Wall Lake Halloween Event is replete with a hayride that loads and unloads at the circle drive near the boat launch.

Get some fall camping in and decorate your campsite, as there will be awards for the best decorated sites as judged by the ranger and campground hosts.

Favorites in the past include skeleton campers grilling or picnicking throughout the campsite, sometimes even with a skeleton of a canine for company. There will be children’s outdoor games at the picnic shelter for a whole bunch of fun.

For folks who want to participate but have already packed up the camper for the season or don’t have one, no worries. There is a big parking lot at the north end of the lake for non-camping visitors.
At Ledges State Park, the trick-or-treat will be Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Again, campsites will be decorated, and campers and non-campers alike can walk through the campground for the event.
