If you dine out a lot in Iowa, chances are you’ve had your fill of burgers, wings, steaks, and pork tenderloins. While Midwestern comfort food is certainly a staple of Hawkeye cuisine, it’s good to mix things up a bit! Check out this well-known Cajun restaurant in Iowa where you’ll find some of the most flavorful meals you’ve ever had.
Buzzard Billy's is a New Orelans-inspired Cajun restaurant in Iowa that's known for excellent service and mouthwatering dishes.
Everything's better when it's wrapped in bacon. They offer bacon-wrapped andouille sausage, bacon-wrapped boneless wings, and spicy Armadillo Eggs - bacon wrapped chicken tenders stuffed with sliced jalapenos and pepper jack cheese.
Try one of their most well-known dishes, the Peacemaker Po'boy, to enjoy cornmeal breaded shrimp and oysters on a sandwich made with their homemade rèmoulade sauce. There are eight other po'boys on the menu if you want to try something new each time you visit.
Their fried catfish platter combines the best of New Orleans and Iowa! No reason to travel all the way down to the Mississippi Delta to enjoy a fresh caught catfish.
Of course, no Cajun restaurant in Iowa would be complete without flavorful, hearty, and award-winning gumbo. Their regular menu features seafood gumbo, chicken and sausage gumbo, and even burnt ends gumbo.
After a meal where you've truly stuffed your face with delicious dining, you'll want to try to squeeze in dessert. Their tableside bananas foster is quite a decadent ending to your indulgent meal.
