Millions of bison once ruled the continent, from the Midwest, down to the Plains, and up into the mountains. Today, you can visit a farm that's home to a herd of more than 300 beautiful bison.
In the 18th and 19th century, white settlers hunted bison to the brink of extinction. It was only through careful preservation that these majestic creatures survived.
Your tour even allows you to get up close with some friendly critters! While they are wild animals, these ranch bison are more domesticated than the ones you would find out west.7
If you've fallen in love with the beasts and can't stomach bison jerky, pick up a hat or t shirt to commemorate your visit. A trip to Bare Bison Ranch is one you'll always remember.
You can tour Bare Bison Ranch on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., and they are open year-round. Call ahead to schedule your tour! The ranch phone number is 515-351-9730, and their address is 1374 Badger Creek Rd Van Meter, IA 50261.
