With hot summer days ahead, it’s the perfect time for a cool, creamy ice cream cone. You’ll find plenty of great ice cream shops in Iowa, but there’s one in Mason City that’s been delighting ice cream lovers for decades, and it’s worth a visit.
For some of the best ice cream in all of Iowa, head to Birdsall's Ice Cream Shop. You'll find it at 518 N Federal Ave., Mason City, IA 50401.
Birdsall's opened in 1931, and it's been a favorite for both Mason City locals and folks from all over Iowa ever since. It's always been well-known for its friendly, efficient service.
While some things have changed over the years, others have not. Behind the counter, you'll still find an old-fashioned waffle cone press, and this little shop is as spotless as it was one it first opened years ago.
The ice cream here is homemade, using the same recipes from 1931. Birdsall's only uses fresh ingredients, and their seasonal flavors are especially popular.
Don't be shy — we know you want to bury your face in that ice cream cone! There's just nothing like a creamy, cold scoop of Birdsall's ice cream on a hot summer day.
