Smithsonian Magazine recently released a list of the 15 best small towns to visit in America for 2021, and wouldn’t you know, a small town in Iowa made the cut! (Of course it did – no surprise there, to those of us who know and love Iowa, at least.) Can you guess which city Smithsonian featured as well worth a visit this year?
It was Dyersville, a small town in Northeast Iowa with a population of 4,035.
But even though it offers the small town feel, it's full of big town attractions, making it the perfect destination for your next Iowa road trip.
Perhaps most famous as the filming location for the movie Field of Dreams, Dyersville owns the claim proudly. You can still visit the farm buildings featured on the film as well as the actual field where Field of Dreams was filmed.
There's also the National Farm Toy Museum, the Dyer-Botsford House & Doll Museum, raceways, golf courses, restaurants, wineries, breweries, and so much more.
Have you ever taken the trip to Dyersville and spent a few days exploring all it has to offer? What’s your favorite attraction? You can learn more about all the town has to offer on the Dyersville Area Chamber of Commerce website here. And if you are looking for more Iowa small-town trip inspiration, check out these ideas!
