For 35 years, one general store in Iowa has captivated a community with their old fashioned ways and timeless traditions. If you’re looking for a fantastic family day trip destination, plan a road trip to Cantril, where you’ll find the legendary Dutchman’s Store.
In 1985, the Zimmerman family moved their little corner market from Mt. Sterling to Main Street in Cantril. Their new space was much larger than the first shop, and the newly minted Dutchman's Store was born.
Today, Dutchman's Store is one of the best country shops in the Hawkeye State. This old-time market is the place to go to find just about everything you could need, from food, to clothing, to home decor and handmade goods.
Browse for bulk foods, candies, and nuts in the many aisles that line this old fashioned grocery store. You'll find everything you need for baking, cooking, and old family recipes.
Dutchman's Store brings Iowans to Cantril from all over the place. When was the last time you brought your family on a road trip out to this fantastic shop?
Visit Dutchman’s Store in Cantril Monday through Friday from 8 a.m to 6 p.m., or on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for an old fashioned family trip.
If you’re in the area, be sure to make time to explore the rest of Van Buren county! The Villages of Van Buren make for a great getaway. Visit the Villages’ website here for inspiration.
