Did you know that one of Iowa’s best little nightlife bars actually serves up an award-winning breakfast, too? Read about the iconic University Library Cafe and how it’s hiding one of the best-kept secrets.
Des Moines' iconic University Library Cafe is a lively bar and taphouse that's been part of the community for decades.
On any given night, you'll find people crowded in to the limited bar seats or dining with friends at a table. Oftentimes, you'll have to wait for seating while others around you finish up.
Recently, the University Library Cafe was voted by both USA Today and Food Network as home to the best breakfast sandwich in Delaware. Be sure to bring an appetite!
You can try a breakfast burger, a waffle sandwich, or something more traditional. The greasy and tasty combination of eggs and sausage or bacon makes for the perfect morning pick-me-up.
If breakfast isn't really your thing, stop by for lunch and try one of their delicious specialty burgers. There's nearly always something new on the menu!
If you love breakfast, but not the idea of waking up early, you’re in luck. University Library Cafe opens at 11 a.m. Monday through Friday, so you can sleep in! On weekends, they open at 8 a.m., and the Cafe stays open until 2 a.m. seven days a week.
