It's about an hour west of Ames on highway 30. Less than 5,000 people live in Jefferson and the town covers about six square miles.
Jefferson's Uptown Cafe opened in 1996, and is a family owned restaurant known for its amazing breakfasts.

Of course, if you visit Uptown Cafe, you must try their biscuits and gravy.
They are open Monday through Thursday from 6am until 2pm, Friday from 6am until 8pm, Saturday from 6am until 8pm, and Sunday from 7am until 2pm.

Luckily, it doesn't matter what time you stop in. They serve breakfast all day.

The biscuits are light, fluffy, and flavorful. The sausage gravy is seasoned perfectly, with those tell-tale tiny flecks of black pepper and hearty chunks of delicious sausage. Two biscuits and and generous serving of gravy will set you back just $4.95.
Everything here is made from scratch, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
