Don’t you just love old Iowa barns? And as practical as they are for farmers, there are a few around the state that have been transformed into something even more attractive and enjoyable for all, including Barn Happy, a one-hundred-year-old barn in Cedar Falls.
It's not hard to find a lunch spot in Cedar Falls, Iowa - but only one lunch spot serves up its food in a barn built in 1925.
The goodness inside Barn Happy doesn’t stop with the dining; the spacious barn also houses a large country store featuring Iowa-themed and made fine arts and crafts.
The outside of this stunning white barn is quintessentially heartland. The view is of the open sky and rolling hills that feel so homey to many Iowans.
As you stroll through the store or sit and dine, you might not realize that only two decades ago there were cows and a fully functioning dairy occupying this space. One of the goals of the owners is to preserve the agricultural heritage of the property rather than converting it to housing, and that vision has made this barn and barnyard accessible to so many.
While the barn takes center stage, a barn corn crib building next door is used for events. Some events are public events such as learning how to make floral arrangements; others reserve this space for a wedding reception or birthday party.
