The Amana Colonies are known for delicious offerings, and that extends to many of their festivals. But did you know the German-themed town hosts a yearly festival dedicated to one of the most delicious foods around – the humble apple? Apfelfest, held every September across the town, is the largest apple festival in Iowa and celebrates the fruit in all sorts of ways – including a unique sampling stroll that allows the town’s many food vendors to incorporate it into seasonal treats. Apple season is still a while away, but the town is no doubt hard at work planning to make 2023’s Apfelfest – held September 16th and 17th in 2023 – the most delicious one yet.
