We all know that Iowa has some absolutely magnificent sunsets. At the end of each day, in any season, it’s best to stop what you’re doing and take it in. But did you know that there’s really no better place than the Midwest to catch a beautiful sunrise? If you’re an early riser, you’ve already seen what the morning light does to our wide-open skies. If not, we highly suggest you set your alarm for the wee hours tomorrow.
You won’t find a bad place in the state to see the sun come up. However, we must admit there’s truly something special about seeing the sunrise in the Altoona area.
Altoona is located in Polk County. It's part of the Des Moines metropolitan area, but there's nothing metropolitan about it.
While the city has certainly enjoyed some economic growth and sees millions of visitors each year, at the end of the day, it's still a relaxing place to call home.
