If you are trying to watch your cookie intake, stay far away from Cookies & More. This little shop in Iowa City bakes up cookies that are not only good, but they might also be too good. Taste one and you’ll soon find yourself reaching for another. And another. And another.
So why are these cookies so good and so terribly addictive? Read on to find out.
Cookies & More has been around since 1983. It's located in the heart of Iowa City and the University of Iowa - the cookies have long been a secret weapon for college students pulling all-nighters.
The business is a family operation. It was founded by Ed and Jane O'Brien and Jane's mother, Marge Miller. It's still a family business run by Alex O'Brien (Ed and Jane's son) and his wife, Angie O'Brien.
Everything in the shop is made from scratch every day using the finest and freshest ingredients. The result: cookies that are moist, soft and delicious.
They make all the standards, including wonderful chocolate chip cookies, monster cookies, oatmeal raisin cookies, peanut butter cookies, and sugar cookies. They also make some that are even better than the standards - the white chocolate supreme, pecan chocolate chip and double chocolate cookies are amazing.
The shop also makes cookie cakes that are perfect for birthdays, graduations or any other special event. Each can be made with your choice of dough, frosting colors and a personal message.
They will write just about any personal message a customer requests, even if the message is a little too personal...
Cookies & More also sells batches of party cookies in boxes that hold a dozen cookies – the minimum order is four dozen cookies. They are perfect for sharing with friends – or just eat them all yourself! Now that your cookie fix is covered, here’s where to go for the best ice cream sandwiches.
