With such a low crime rate (6th lowest in the country), it’s not hard to see that Iowa is a pretty safe state to live in, but if you’re looking for that extra security, here are the 10 safest places to live in Iowa, according to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports for the state.
Grundy Center, in Grundy County, is probably the safest place to live in all of Iowa. With a population of 2,706 people, there were no violent crimes, no murders, no rapes, no aggravated assaults, no burglaries, and no arson in 2013, the most recent year of the FBI's Uniform Crime Reports.
Blue Grass, population 1,588, is another of the safest towns in the state, with no violent crimes, no murders, no rapes, no robberies, no aggravated assaults, and no arson in the reported year.
State Center, a town of 1,468, is also a haven of safety in the state, with no violent crimes, no murders, no rapes, no robberies, no aggravated assaults, and no arson in the last reported year.
Decorah, the charming Norway-in-Iowa town of 8,127 is also a very safe place to live, with no murders, rapes, robberies, or arson in the reported year, and only one violent crime.
Emmetsburg, population 3,820, is also a very low crime community, with only one violent crime, and no murders, rapes, robberies, or arson in the reported year.
The town of Williamsburg has a population of 3,068, and a low crime rate, with only one violent crime reported in the last recorded year, and no murders, rapes, or robberies.
The storybook town of Story City, population 3,434, has a low crime rate of just two violent crimes, and no murders, rapes, or robberies in the last recorded year.
New Hampton, population 3,571, is another safe and low-crime place to live in Iowa, with only two violent crimes reported in the last recorded year, and no murders, rapes, or robberies.
