Now that we’re nearing the end of the year, and getting closer to Thanksgiving, it’s a great time to start thinking about what we’re thankful for. One of the biggest things, of course, is Iowa! But not only Iowans should be thankful for our state, the entire country should be too, and here’s why:

10. Iowa is responsible for many life-changing inventions, like sliced bread.

7. Iowa also produces a large portion of the nation's wind energy.

6. And we're leading the nation in production of renewable fuels like ethanol and biodesiel.

5. Iowa also produces the most pork in the country, including that Thanksgiving ham you're going to eat, or that bacon you had for breakfast.

4. Iowa is also the nation's leader in egg production.

3. And we produce the most soybeans in the country.

2. And, no surprise here, Iowa produces more corn than any other state, and even more than some countries.

1. But most of all, we should be thankful for the hard-working farmers that make all of this possible.
